I read the last review and had to answer right away. I ordered mine from HSN after watching Emeril demonstrate it. It is large, but not professional large. It is so easy to use and yes don't over fill it. When your done cooking set in on automatic and once the oil is cooled it will drain and filter into the below storage container. The inside liner comes out and washed up easily. It looks good on my counter too. I have made chicken wings, coconut shrimp, hush puppies and the best french fries! Everything came out perfect.

If you have a small kitchen or very little storage space, you may want to consider a smaller size fryer. The Emerilware Deep Fryer is a very sizeable appliance. The unit has a very high quality outer appearance; stainless steel outer shell, composite feet and handles, and a glass lid. Gasketed holes are are cut into each end of the lid to accommodate where the heating element is attached to the timer, as well as the fry basket handle. The oil storage reservoir is made of plastic and has a thin, removable lid and a screw on/off drainage cap. The timing unit is easy to read and simple to use. The cord on the Emerilware Deep Fryer is very short and attaches to the back of the timing unit with the aid of magnets. Both the cord and the magnetic attachment device are safety features used to avoid the unit being accidentally tipped over. The unit also has a thermostat which prevents the oil from being drained into the storage container if it is too hot. Internally, the vat and fry basket are also made of stainless steel. The vat is stamped with Minimum and Maximum oil volume levels. The basket is mesh with approximately 1/4 inch holes and a locking hinge handle for storage. The basket can be hung over the vat when not immersed. The fryer drains easily. The heating element is affixed to the timing unit and the entire mechanism can be separated from the fryer for cleaning. The majority of the parts on this unit can be disassembled and, with the exception of the heating element, are dishwasher safe (according to the manufacturer). We chose to wash ours by hand in warm, soapy water. Overall, this is a very good unit. Pros: The Emerilware Deep Fryer is very lightweight and easy to assemble. The vat can handle much more food than its smaller counterparts. The element heats up quickly and the timer is easy to read and set. The overall quality of the food is very good. We tried beer battered fish, thinly sliced potatoes, and non-breaded chicken wings. The cooking times listed in the instruction booklet are very accurate. The oil storage unit sits flat and can be easily stored on the bottom shelf of most refrigerators; although we suggest a separate storage container. Cons: Size; this is a large appliance. It takes a lot of oil, nearly one gallon, to fill the fryer to its maximum capacity which you will need in most cases. The use of shortening is not recommended. While visually appealing, parts of this unit feel flimsy. The outer shell and the vat are very thin, as well as the storage container and lid. The quality of the drainage mechanism and the potential for damage and leakage concerned us. Despite its easy disassembly, this unit is a bear to clean; especially if washed by hand. Wet battered foods stick to the basket and are difficult to remove. Getting the oil out of some of the smaller, grooved parts is difficult. The unit takes several hours to cool down to drainage temperature; even then the oil is still quite hot so use caution. If using the maximum oil capacity, fill the vat to just below the Maximum level marking. The Maximum oil level stamped into the vat holds slightly more oil than the storage container, meaning the vat will not drain completely. The storage container lid is flexible and is prone to leaking. Should you choose to store the container in the refrigerator do not set anything on top of it or slide it around. The short safety cord is just a little too short, a few more inched would have been good. If you need to use an extension cord (not recommended), make sure it is rated for this appliance (over 1750 watts). If you enjoy deep fried foods but don't mind being up all night cleaning, then the Emerilware Deep Fryer is a great fryer.
