Wild rice mix, vegetables, smoked turkey or chicken, and evaporated milk make a creamy soup in the crockpot.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 6 hours

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 stalks celery, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 box uncooked Uncle Ben's wild rice and long-grain rice mix, including seasoning packet
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 3 (14-1/2-ounces each) cans chicken broth

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1-1/2 cups diced smoked turkey or rotisserie chicken
  • 1 cup frozen green peas, thawed
  • 2 Tablespoons red wine, optional

Preparation:

Place onion, celery, carrots, wild rice, contents of seasoning packet, garlic, oregano, basil, and pepper in the base of the crockpot. Add chicken broth and give a good stir to mix things up. Cover and cook on Low for 6 to 8 hours until wild rice is tender.
