This recipe is similar to one used at California's North Woods Inn restaurant chain. Try this quick and easy recipe and you'll never go back to bottled bleu cheese dressing.

Prep Time: 4 hours, 5 minutes

Total Time: 4 hours, 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup sour cream or nonfat sour cream
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1/8 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Hungarian sweet paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons blue cheese

Preparation:

In a food processor or heavy-duty blender, combine buttermilk, sour cream, garlic, sugar, paprika, and salt. Blend until smooth. Add blue cheese, and pulse quickly once or twice. Do not blend. You want small chunks of blue cheese.

Refrigerate 4 hours or more before serving to let flavors blend.

Yield: About 1-1/3 cups

Great Blue Cheese Dressing, Member Sahara6636

This is a great 'starter' recipe. I added a little more garlic, a generous tsp. of freshly ground black pepper and three times the blue cheese. Seemed a bit thin at first, but after a few hours of refrigeration, it thickened up. Best homemade Blue Cheese dressing ever! YUM!
