Popular Dr Pepper soda makes a spiced gravy for baked pork chops. This dish goes together quickly, but it does take 3 hours to bake. It is well worth the time investment.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 3 hours

Ingredients:

  • 24 ounces Dr Pepper soda
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 6 center-cut pork chops

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.

In a 9 x 13-inch pan, mix soda, brown sugar, garlic powder, cloves, ginger, pepper, salt, and onion. Cook 15 minutes; stir. Place pork chops in mixture, and cover pan with foil. Bake 3 hours.

Too much sugar and spiceSeptember 15, 2009By luvsbluebonnets2
"I used extra thick boneless porkchops and browned them to seal in the juices and doubled the sauce as everyone said there was not enough. The chops were dry as dust so keep an eye on them because 3 hrs is way off. The sauce was too sugary and all the spices were way over the top even though I reduced the cloves and the ginger. The cloves and pepper gave the sauce an unpleasant ""bite"". As for the onion, the sauce overpowered everything including the meat.Waste of effort and meat."
