Guide Review - Emerilware Grill & Panini Maker
Here we have yet another indoor electric grill. What sets it apart and makes it different?
The Emerilware Grill & Panini Maker has 3 convenient positions: closed, open, and oven. In the closed position, the lid adjusts automatically from 1/2 to 2 inches to accomodate the food. In the open position, both sides of the grill may be used as a barbecue grill. The oven position uses a wire support to hold up the lid so it does not touch the food in the closed position.
The T-Fal-coated grill plates make for easy cleaning. I found it easy enough to wipe down with a dampy soapy sponge, then dry with a paper towel. Unlike other indoor grills, the entire unit, excluding the removable power source, is safe to put in the dishwasher or wash in the sink. For those whose cupboards are space-challenged, this unit may be stored upright as well as flat.
The unit has minimum and maxium heat settings with three specific recommended numbered settings in between. However, it has no Farenheit heat numbering. You'll have to use the included chart to determine proper settings. Preheating takes less than five minutes, and an indicator light lets you know when it's ready.
Curiously, the unit has no on/off switch. It depends up the power cord being plugged or unplugged to turn it on or off.
Aside from the annoying lack of an on/off switch, the unit performed well. Especially appreciated is the nonstick T-Fal finish and ease of cleaning. Recommended.
