Some things are best left unchanged, and banana pudding is one of them. This classic banana pudding is fast, easy and will remind you of the good old days. Fresh bananas are layered with vanilla wafer cookies and a rich vanilla pudding for a no-bake dessert that will please all.

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 15 minutes

Yield: 8 to 10 servings

  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk (NOT evaporated milk)
  • 1-1/2 cups cold water
  • 1 (4-serving-size) package instant French vanilla pudding and pie filling mix
  • 2 cups (1 pint) heavy whipping cream
  • 40 vanilla wafers cookies (about)
  • 3 to 4 medium bananas, sliced and dipped in lemon juice from concentrate
  • 4 vanilla wafers, crushed to crumbs for garnish

Combine sweetened condensed milk and water in a large mixing bowl. Add pudding mix and beat on medium speed for 3 minutes. Refrigerate pudding mixture for 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, whip heavy cream to stiff peaks. Fold whipped cream into chilled pudding mixture until combined.

Select a large (3-quart) decorative glass bowl. Spread 1/2 cup of pudding around the bottom of the bowl and top with one-third of the vanilla wafers, followed by one-third of the bananas and one-third of the remaining pudding. Continue layers, finishing with pudding on top. Sprinkle with crushed vanilla wafer crumbs. Chill at least 4 hours before serving.

Refrigerate leftovers.

Yield: 8 to 10 servings

Bananna Pudding 'Manna' Straight from Heaven!, Member jeff.hatcher

There is no doubt, I have eaten this recipe for Banna Pudding many times through the years. Growing up in West Central Georgia, smack in the middle of the Bible Belt, this 'version' started showing up at Wednesday Night Church suppers and Sunday Church Homecomings with 'Dinner on the gounds'. The first time I tasted it, this recipe became my yardstick anytime I heard anyone mentione they had a 'good' recipe for bananna pudding. I would invariably make my version (this one) and take it to whatever occassion we had to bring food for. I cannot remember a single time when this recipe did not win by a wide margin of approval by the group of 'Bananna Pudding Experts' appropriatly assembled. Many Saturdays in the fall, we would take it along on trips to Athens, Georgia, to see our beloved Georgia Bulldogs Football team play 'whoever we were going to destroy' that day. Our tailgating cuisine would vary greatly from game to game, season after season, but the bananna pudding was always the dessert demanded by our group of football 'Dawg Loyalists. Always! Which brings me to mention a couple of slight tweaks. First, use only Nabisco Nilla wafers. Most all other ingredients can be store brands, but don't skimp on the Nabisco Nilla wafers. When allowed to 'cure' properly in the fridge, these wafers will swell and have the consistency and goodness, of thin vanilla cake layers in the bananna pudding. No other brand is as good! Second, be sure the banann pudding is made ahead of time and can be covered in the regrigerator for a minimum of 12 hours before serving. Like a fine wine, it should never be served before it's time. Third, get as many layers of banannas and nilla wafers as you can in the dish. Fourth, you can substitute the fresh whipping cream with Cool Whip or store brand of froen topping. It will save you some prep time, and it is easier to use; just make sure it is completely thawed before using with pudding mixture. The best part is, this recipe is so easy , anyone can make the world's best banna pudding in less than 15 minutes! Enjoy and, 'Go Dawgs, Sic' 'em, Woof!, Woof! Woof'!
