Grand Marnier Custard Recipe

This classic French egg custard gets its flavor boost from Grand Marnier® orange liqueur. Plan ahead to refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving. This is an elegant, yet simple dessert.

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 35 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 9 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup superfine sugar
  • 3 cups heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 Tablespoons Grand Marnier®
  • .
  • Topping:
  • 4 Tablespoons freshly-grated orange zest
  • 1 Tablespoon Grand Marnier®

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.

Beat eggs with sugar until thick and creamy. While stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, add cream in a slow and steady stream, then mix in vanilla and Grand Marnier®.

Divide mixture into 6 custard cups and place the cups in a 2-inch deep baking pan. Place baking pan on center oven rack and carefully pour in hot water to surround the cups in water 1 inch deep. Bake for 35 minutes until center is set.

Remove from oven and pan. Let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate at least 2 hours.

Just before serving, blend orange zest with 1 tablespoon Grand Marnier®. Top each of the custards with the zest mixture.

Yield: 6 servings
