If you love the flavor of root beer and those old beer barrel candies, you will love these easy cookies.
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
- 2/3 cup butter-flavor solid vegetable shortening
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 egg
- 1-1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup root beer barrel candy, crushed
Preparation:
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease baking sheets with shortening.
Beat butter-flavored shortening with both sugars in a large bowl at medium speed of electric mixer. Beat in egg.
Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt. Blend into butter mixture by hand, adding crushed candy.
Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Bake for 11 to 15 minutes.
Yield: 3 dozen cookies
