Cranberry Chutney Recipe

Cranberries are the star in this fresh fruit and nut chutney. It goes together fast and will keep several weeks in the refrigerator. Use as a condiment with pork and poultry.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 16 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup chopped apples
  • 1/2 cup chopped pears
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
  • 2 Tablespoons minced candied ginger
  • 2 Tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon onion salt (optional)

Preparation:

In large kettle, bring cranberries, brown sugar, raisins, celery, apples, pears, water, walnuts, ginger, lemon juice, cloves, and onion salt to a boil, stirring constantly. Simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Store in refrigerator. Will keep several weeks.

Yield: 3 cups
