Herbed Dinner Rolls Recipe

This is an easy way to take inexpensive store-bought dinner rolls and turn them into a delicious bread course suitable for any meal. The purchased rolls are sliced in half and brushed with a compound butter flavored with rosemary, sage, and garlic. They are quickly toasted under the broiler. They taste even better than they look. Feel free to use your favorite herbs.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 6 Tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh rosemary, minced (or 1 teaspoon dried)
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh sage, minced (or 1 teaspoon dried)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 package dinner rolls

Preparation:

In a small bowl, mix butter with rosemary, sage, and garlic. Salt and pepper generously.

Split the rolls horizontally (without separating the rolls), so you have two large flat working areas – the tops and the bottoms of the rolls. Using a basting brush, lightly brush butter all over the cut bread surface areas. Broil the rolls, oiled side facing the heat source, just until barely golden.

Put the tops back on the bottoms and separate rolls and serve in a bread basket.

Yield: 8 servings
