Wassail Recipe

Wassail is an traditional, hearty drink flavored with fruit and spices. This rum version is sure to warm you through any cold weather but is especially popular during the Christmas and New Year's holidays.

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 gallon apple cider
  • 2 quarts cranberry juice
  • 1 Tablespoon aromatic bitters
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 Tablespoon white allspice
  • 2 oranges, studded with cloves
  • 2 cups rum (optional)

Preparation:

Combine apple cider, cranberry juice, bitters, cinnamon sticks, allspice, cloves, and rum. Heat gently. Serve warm.

This drink also sends wonderful aromas throughout the house.

Yield: 30 servings
