It can be used for savory dishes as well as desserts. If you do not have the time nor inclination to make your own homemade puff pastry, most markets sell it pre-made, usually in the frozen food section. Let the puff pastry thaw in the refrigerator before using. The dough usually comes folded in thirds. Do not attempt to open it out before it thaws or it will tear and/or break.
