With all of the elements of a Southern mint julep cocktail, this cake is perfect for Kentucky Derby Day this weekend. The rich pound cake has a white chocolate ganache frosting with a light mint flavor to complement the Bourbon butter sauce infused in the cake. You probably won't want to wait for Kentucky Derby Day to make this cake. Even without the bourbon butter sauce and/or creme de menthe frosting, the cake will shine with a simple dusting of powdered sugar. May also be made as a sheet cake.

I did bake this cake, and it was absolutely delicious. There was only one problem. It should have been mentioned that it has to completely cool before you take it out of the pan.Mine didn’t and because it is so delicate ripped apart in the middle. Such a shame.
The directions clearly state: “Let cake cool to room temperature in the pan before removing.” Sorry you missed that instruction.

The cake was delicious! Icing was more of a glaze than an icing. I used sugar free creme de menthe flavoring and could barely taste it, even after adding double what the recipe called for.
Made this cake during the weekend. I was amazed at how soft it was. Reduced the sugar as our sugar here in East Africa is absolutely sweet. Still needed to reduce the sugar some more in the sauce. There wasnt a piece left of the cake. Have to make the cake again. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
what delicious cake.
Very nice Festival. Great Salads
