Whether you are looking for a way to use up those last tomatoes from your summer garden or just want to try making your own, check out how to make homemade sun-dried tomatoes. You can dry them outside in the sun, in a dehydrator, or in your oven. The method is simple, but will take some time, so plan ahead. Don't forget to try adding your favorite herbs. Depending upon how thoroughly you dry them, you may need to reconstitute them. (This is true of many store-bought varieties.) Plum tomatoes are the traditional choice, but you can dry any tomato, even cherry tomatoes. Then try your beauties in one of my featured sun-dried tomato recipes.
