Easy Scalloped Potatoes Recipe

Rich and cheesy, these scalloped potatoes are easy to make. I have a hard time not reaching for thirds and fourths, they are so good. Red or Yukon gold potatoes are the best choice for this recipe since they hold together better. Adding cooked ham or sliced sausage links will turn this into a full meal casserole. Great for potluck dinners.

If I leave out the nutmeg, will that mess up the overall flavor?

Hi Tracy!
A bit of nutmeg is used in all classic white sauces to tone down the harshness of the flour and smooth out the flavor. It’s a chef’s trick. You won’t taste it all.

However, if you are out of nutmeg, leaving it out will not spoil the dish.

My daughter would live on these if I let her!
