Fig Recipes

Thursday September 18, 2008

The sweet, delicious flesh of the fig was long used as a sweetener before the advent of refined sugars. Figs enhance both savory dishes and desserts. Not to worry if you don't have access to fresh figs. Dried figs are readily available. Try such fig recipes as Pork Loin Chops with Fig Sauce, Figs Stuffed with Tapenade, and more.

I love figs and feel that they are so under used in the culinary world. The biggest regret I have about figs is that their season is too short. I can’t wait to try the recipes especially the Figs Stuffed with Tapenade the combinations sound enticing. Speaking of enticing I just found a wonderful fig recipe on Kathyireland.com. Caramel Drizzled California Figs and Ice Cream
DELICIOUS! I didn’t know Kathy Ireland did so much, great site with lots on info. love the recipes, love to cook.
